Steve Carell, who plays self-admiring boss Michael Scott on NBC’s hit comedy series The Office, will be leaving at the end of next season, due to end in May 2011. Carell made the official announcement to Us Magazine while promoting his new film, Despicable Me.
Although NBC has not yet responded to the news, it seems as though they were prepared for his departure from the series. Carell’s contract with the series ends at the end of next season, and just last month, NBC executives told reporters that they considered the series to be “an ensemble piece and that producers were prepared for a possible departure by Carell,” according to Yahoo! News. Carell stated to Us Magazine that he wished to honor his contract.
Carell’s reason for the departure is that he wishes to spend more time with his wife and kids.

According to Green’s rep, the couple, who became engaged for the second time on June 1st, finally made it official this past weekend in a quiet ceremony while vacationing at the Four Seasons Resort on Hawaii’s Big Island.
The pair met in 2004, but broke off their two year engagement in early 2009. They reunited several months later. This marriage is a first for both Fox, 24, and Green, 36. Green, however, has an 8-year-old son, Kassius, with Las Vegas actress Vanessa Marcil. Kassius was present at the wedding.
Fox caused quite a stir earlier this month when she was spotted without her ring. According to witness reports, the ring fell off into the sand while Fox was jumping up and down immediately following the proposal. Hotel maintenance and security sifted through the sand for several hours looking for the ring, which never was recovered.
